SOPHIA KAI
Journal of the Soul
Sophia Kai is a multilingual writer and musician from Sri Lankan, Greek and East
African heritage. Her art is widely known for exploring the depth, contradiction and vulnerability of the human experience while articulating resistance to systems that constrain dignity, memory and freedom, both inwardly and socially. Shared widely online, they have reached hundreds of thousands and resonate across cultural and political boundaries.
Sophia’s work encourages a more deliberate relationship with music and art,
rooted in sustained listening rather than fast consumption. Her original
compositions span multiple languages, including Greek, French, Spanish and
English, moving between solo performances and larger collaborations. She has
recently released her debut album, Karavi, where she is joined by Kostas Patsiotis
on the double-bass, Peter Jaques on the Clarinet/Trumpet/Ney and Gerasimos Kolaitis on the drums.
